After an overwhelming number of entries and much deliberation, the Start Up Loans Company has just announced that two of the Semi-Finalists for the UK wide ‘Big Start Up Loans Competition’ are from Northern Ireland.
One of the semi-finalists, Vikki Bustard opened the Plant and Play Wildlife Garden in Bangor, Co Down only 6 months ago and already she has been shortlisted as a semi-finalist for this major award.
‘I am overwhelmed at the response my new business has had from local families, schools and from the media. I never expected that I would be shortlisted for the Big Start Up Loans Competition, but this is a great opportunity to help me create awareness of my business.’ explains Vikki.
The other Northern Irish semi-finalist is Jonny Heywood of Weight Loss Challenge Camp in Derry/Londonderry. Jonny received a small business loan from ENI Start Up Loans and managed to increase his customer base dramatically through effective advertising and marketing.
‘I was able to put the loan to good use and carry out an extensive advertising campaign which allowed me to both build brand awareness for the business and gain new customers. I am really excited about being shortlisted as a semi-finalist in the Big Start Up Loans Competition as this will help give profile to Northern Ireland businesses on a UK wide scale.’
There are a number of prizes on offer for the winners of the Competition as well as for the runners up.
The Start-up of the Year will receive a cash prize of £5000, an iMac and more, 10 Regional winners from each UK region will receive a £500 cash prize and 22 runner’s up will receive a PR package from, JHPR!
The Semi-Finalists will now go on to produce a 3 minute video pitch to be submitted to the judging panel before attending an exclusive award ceremony lunch at the Mayor’s Office on the 3rd November.
